TOOL HOLDER REQUIREMENTS

An end mill type tool holder with screw tightening is recommended when using our threadmills.  Only use a precision ground holder or one that has been ground eccentric to minimize runout due to the side clamping screw.  Collet chucks are not recommended.  They will tend to give more runout which will lead to premature chipping or even breakage.

Keep the length projecting out of the holder to a minimum.  Bury the tool as far as possible into the holder to minimize overhang and the associated deflection.  A tool that sticks out of a holder twice as far will have eight times more deflection given the same side forces.  The tool will last much longer if it is inserted up to where the flutes end.
